Airframe Assault - The Verdict

Entry to mechjam 5 game jam. Made within 2 weeks.

Third person mecha shooter inspired by games such as the Armored Core series, Ace Combat series and Project Nimbus. The idea for this game was to create a mecha game in 3D space with damage more akin to how it is portrayed in the Gundam anime or the CG intros of the Armored Core games. Where damage is more "realistic" in the sense that you can only take a few shots or missile hits before dying, with emphasis on dodging. Optional wingman in survival, as I never really tried to add friendly AI to a game and cause having an ally can be nice and not so lonely. Especially in games like Armored Core where you're usually alone. You always have a wingman in campaign.

This is built upon an old project made for Mechjam 4, but with permission from the Jam host. The original project was a endless wave survival, with this update being missions/a campaign mode. As well as some more polish and reworks of previous existing systems.

Original survival mode backstory (not important, just context to the game): As an ace pilot and one of the best available, you sign up for on a suicide mission to launch an attack on a key location held by the enemy. Your mission isn't to take over the location however, you are simply buying time for your allies. A close comrade of yours, unwilling to let you go alone, volunteers to join you (if wingman/friendly AI is enabled).

New campaign mode backstory (not important, just context to the game): As renowned ace pilots of "Fenrir team", you and your wingman, callsign "Amulet" and "Lucky" respectively, are transferred to a remote exhausted base to reinforce your forces' position there.
